What a local contributor does
A contributor picks a place from our list or proposes one, visits on an agreed date, orders what a normal visitor would order and pays the bill. Afterwards they send the date, the order, the price paid, a few of their own photographs and a short honest note: what stood out, what to skip and what a visitor needs to know before going.
The editorial team checks the facts against the official pages of the place, keeps the note short and publishes it with a visit date. Contributors are credited as an EL Premier local contributor; a name is published only with the contributor's written consent.
Rules that keep it honest
- The business never knows about the visit in advance and never pays for it or for the note.
- Every note carries a visit date, the order and our own photographs; there are no star ratings and no review scores.
- A contributor declares any family, employment or ownership link to a place and does not test it.
- Corrections are welcome from readers and businesses alike; a corrected note keeps its original visit date and states what changed.
- Promoted business profiles are labelled and sit outside the notes; a paid profile never earns a note.
Who we are looking for
Residents of Thessaloniki
People who eat, shop and move around the city every week and know which street is calm at midnight.
A subject you know well
Food, coffee, late evenings, family outings, running routes, markets or one neighbourhood you can cover again and again.
A phone camera and an eye for detail
Clear photographs, exact addresses, opening hours as seen on the door and prices as printed on the receipt.
Greek or English writing
Short factual notes in Greek or English; the team translates and edits before publication.
How to join
- Send the application below with your neighbourhood, your interests and, if you like, a link to photographs you have taken.
- We reply by email, usually within a week, and agree the practical terms of a first visit.
- After a trial visit and note, you join the rota and choose what to test next.
Applications are stored only to reply and to organise visits, and are deleted when you ask. Details are on the privacy page.
Frequently asked questions
Do contributors get paid?
The practical terms, including how the bill of a visit is covered, are agreed by email before the first visit. What never happens is payment from the business being visited.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. Notes are credited to an EL Premier local contributor by default. A name appears only with your written consent, and you can withdraw it later.
Can a business ask to be visited?
A business can suggest itself by email, but it cannot choose the date, the contributor or the outcome, and it cannot pay for a visit. Businesses that want a checked presence can request a labelled profile instead.
