onward travel

Dimokratias & railway side: plan your stay

The Dimokratias and New Railway Station side is a practical comparison when an onward departure drives the stay. Keep the railway station and your particular intercity bus terminal as separate destinations.

At a glance: Useful when quick access to the railway station or intercity coaches matters more than a waterfront address.

Mornings and evenings

Work backwards from departure time, luggage and check-out. For nights out, inspect the exact return route and building entrance rather than judging every street by the station-area label.

Arrival and daily journeys

The airport lists 1X/1N towards the New Railway Station and KTEL Makedonia. Check which stop serves your accommodation; the bus terminal and railway station are not interchangeable arrival points.

Before you book

  • Verify your actual rail or coach departure, terminal and boarding requirements with its operator. Ask about early check-out, luggage storage and access to a confirmed parking space if needed.
  • Map the exact entrance and the last 500 metres, including gradients, steps and crossings. Ask the property about step-free access rather than assuming it from the area.
  • Confirm room orientation, recent noise reports, check-in arrangements and cancellation terms. If driving, get explicit confirmation of a parking space for your vehicle and dates.

When another base works better

Compare Ladadika for port-side evenings or Aristotelous for a sightseeing-led visit. Saving one departure transfer is less useful if the rest of the stay adds daily journeys you dislike.
