east-coast rhythm

Kalamaria: plan your stay

Kalamaria is a separate municipality on the eastern Thermaic coast. It suits an eastern local programme; choose the specific address rather than treating the whole municipality as one waterfront or metro-stop location.

At a glance: A separate coastal municipality and an intentional base for east-side days—not a substitute label for central Thessaloniki.

Mornings and evenings

Decide whether your days revolve around a local address, the coast or the central city. Plan the evening return as carefully as the outward journey, especially when several people travel together.

Arrival and daily journeys

The operator lists Kalamaria, Aretsou, Nea Krini and Mikra among its stations. Compare the nearest actual entrance and current train destination; for SKG, investigate the listed 3X connection at Mikra.

Before you book

  • Check the accommodation's walking route to the coast and station independently. A coastal municipality does not guarantee a seafront room, level access or a short transfer from every address.
  • Map the exact entrance and the last 500 metres, including gradients, steps and crossings. Ask the property about step-free access rather than assuming it from the area.
  • Confirm room orientation, recent noise reports, check-in arrangements and cancellation terms. If driving, get explicit confirmation of a parking space for your vehicle and dates.

When another base works better

Compare Aristotelous for a predominantly central visit, Toumba for a repeated address there, or the airport side when an early or late flight is the overriding constraint.
