Seasonal planning · dates pending

Book the city rhythm—not an unverified event calendar.

A winter stay puts more value on a short evening walk, indoor alternatives and a simple arrival. Salonica has not yet verified a complete official 2026 Christmas programme, so this guide does not invent dates or venues.

At a glance: Choose the central band around Aristotelous, Agias Sofias or the waterfront for the most flexible winter base. Move to Ladadika for late dining; avoid choosing Ano Poli purely for a view if wet-weather slope will undermine the trip.

Winter-weighted choices

best fallback

Central core

Shorter walks between food, shopping and indoor culture make it the strongest all-weather default.

evenings

Ladadika

Useful for dinner-led trips, with the usual trade-off between energy and quiet.

atmosphere

Ano Poli

Worth it for place and views when you accept slope, weather exposure and a more deliberate return plan.

About the 2026 programme

We will add market dates, lighting ceremonies and temporary venues when the municipality or organiser publishes the official programme. Until then, plan around the city rather than unconfirmed event details.
